When two teams meet for a derby, it is usually an emotional affair for the fans and players. A derby is a battle of strength between two neighboring clubs, a game of honor. The winner carries away fame and laurels, the loser has to wait until the next meeting in order to restore the lost pride.
The Derby from the Freigeist house is a little different: Four breweries meet for channel derby number 2. And instead of beating each other's heads with a fighting spirit, the breweries unite to create a very special beer. Freigeist Bierkultur, Brewing Project 777 and the Hensen Brewery from Germany are competing for the canal derby, while London's 40FT Brewery is from England. With combined forces, the brewers on both sides of the channel have created a fluffy micro IPA. The two hops, Mosaic and Simcoe, provide refreshing fruity notes, and two types of malt provide a soft base.
Canal derby number 2 flows into the glass in glowing amber and has a lively pearly carbonic acid that transports fine notes of yellow fruits, spicy resin and grassy hops to the surface. The first taste reveals a slim body, which delights with dry aromas. Fruity hops meet freshly mown grass, grainy malt and a gentle bitterness.
