A handful of ingredients and a blender are all you need to make a classic piña colada. Pineapple juice, white rum and coconut cream are the basics, if you want a more elaborate version, you can also add coconut milk, fresh pineapple and lime juice to the mixing bowl. The exotic raw materials quickly turn into a creamy, smooth mixture that tastes like a vacation on the beach and sweet idleness.

The latest beer from Freigeist Bierkultur achieves the same effect much faster and with less effort and ingredients: If You Like Piña Colada is an exquisite sour ale, brewed with coconut and pineapple and based on the legendary cocktail. The delicious sour beer brings 4.0% alcohol content and a silky mouthfeel to the tongue.

In the glass, the beery variant of a Piña Colada does not appear quite as cloudy and viscous as its role model: Freigeist’s brew piece presents itself in a delicately cloudy golden tone with a copper shimmer and a fleeting head of foam. The beer smells of toasted coconut and still warm pineapple jam. The taste test continues this olfactory first impression: Roasted coconut and ripe pineapple enter the stage with gentle sweetness and fine acidity, followed by subtle citrus notes and light malt. Enjoying the beer leads to a dry, sour and exotic finish.
