Even if the name does not reveal it directly, the Franken-Ale in the wide range of the Schlossbrauerei Ellingen ensures international flair. The ale is not one of the down-to-earth, German classics that the brewery usually brews, but is rather a Franconian interpretation of an English beer style. The brewers let their creativity play and put their very own stamp on the ale: Fürst Carls Ale is a cold-hopped specialty that gets its sophisticated taste from the regionally grown Hallertauer Mittelfrüh and Gold hops.
The hops are grown by the brewer himself and scores with regionality, freshness and taste.
The top-fermented ale has a tasty 5.3% alcohol content and flows into the glass in a glowing amber gold. A seductive bouquet of quince and pear notes rises from the head of foam and makes you excited about the first sip. This reveals a light-footed body with a mild aroma and gentle carbonation. The malt forms a soft base that tastes of freshly baked bread and roasted grain. The hops harmonize with notes of herbs, green hop umbels, juicy citrus fruits and cut grass. The bitterness remains discreetly in the background until the finish and rounds off the beer enjoyment with a crisp note.
