"Hog wild" is a term used in North Carolina. According to legend, the term originated from a conversation between a hillbilly and a couple of Yankees. One uses hog wild synonymously with words like foolish, irrepressible or high-spirited; It is also the title of an excellent India Pale Ale from the Aviator Brewing Company.
The brewers really let it all out in the production of this beer: three types of hop flavor the beer before it is dry-hopped with two other variants to top it all off. The hop excess results in a 6.7% strong beer with a heavy 108 bitterness units and a citrusy, clear and clean flavor profile. The hopped specialty harks back to the good old days, presenting us with a traditional India Pale Ale reminiscent of the brews of the early days of the craft beer movement.
The warm golden beer flows into the glass with an almost clear copper tone and is adorned with a white head of foam. Scent and taste are characterized by a fruity variety, which is combined with moderate malt and caramel tones. Intense citrus notes set the tone. The crisp bitterness runs like a red thread through the enjoyment of beer and is present from the first to the last sip. Those who like it classic will love Aviators HogWild!
