Beer is a passion that grips many. Hardly anyone can say no to a well-chilled blonde with a stately head of foam and a fine fragrance. For some, however, the love of beer goes beyond enjoyment. More and more people dare to brew and implement their beery ideas at home in their own four walls. Quite a few craft breweries have come about in this way - even though the brewers had often taken completely different professional paths before founding their own label.
It was the same with Josef Langwieser. Before his thirst for beer lured him to his future job, the master carpenter from Siegenburg specialized in the manufacture of fine wooden furniture and kitchens. The skilled craftsman has been working with wood for 30 years and has a small team to help him with the daily tasks. Since 2017, his men have been in even greater demand because Josef has turned his love of beer into a sideline and second source of income. Josef has always enjoyed drinking good beer, but one day when he heard a report on the radio about the range of his favorite drink, he became curious. He read up on the subject and quickly decided to brew his own beer. Conveniently, Josef had been growing his own hops for a long time, which he now used as the basis for his own beer. After the first attempts in his own kitchen, the carpenter was so enthusiastic that he let friends and relatives taste it. His beer hit like a bomb and he had to think of a solution to meet the increasing demand.
At the beginning of their career, many young brewers look for established breweries to brew on their brewing system. The big breweries can use their capacities to the full and give newcomers the chance to try things out without having to bear the financial burden of running their own brewery. This phenomenon is called the cuckoo brewery and Josef Langwieser also took this path. He rents a place at a brewery and uses the professional equipment to brew small batches of beer. His range consists of hoppy creations that score with character and taste. The hops from our own cultivation give the beer a special touch. Although he has already received offers for his recipes, Josef still brews his beer himself or has it brewed by friends of his. This is the only way he can maintain the high quality standards that he has set for himself.
