In Germany, the term Lehe is not entirely unknown. Nevertheless, behind it there is neither the district of a northern German coastal town, nor a river in the northern part of Germany - it is more about beer - artisanal specialty beer from Estonia.
The origins of the Lehe brewing trade began within the own four walls of the Tali couple. Brewmaster Tarmo Tali gave up his job at a communications company to turn his hobby into a career. In the beginning, his wife Gristel had to serve as a guinea pig, even if not entirely voluntarily. The different brewing styles and the charm of the craft beer took them by storm and convinced Gristel to also get into the business. What began with dandelion wine quickly developed into an absolute hit in the craft beer world: The demand for beer from Lehe rose so rapidly that the bottles were temporarily sold out right on the filling line.
The Lehe Brewery has entered into a cooperation with the Bamberg brewery St. ERHARD® with a special end result. With combined strength and clever ideas, the two craft beer pioneers conjured up their masterpiece Endspiel , which was awarded gold at the Meininger Craft Beer Award : a barley wine that surprises. First of all, the sweet notes of velvety caramel and candied fruit stand out. A pleasant liveliness and freshness underlines the aromas in an elegant way and prevents them from being too heavy. According to the name Endgame, every ingredient of the beer plays a role like the individual pieces on a chessboard and forms the special note.
As a lateral entrant in the beer business, Lehe Brewery is extremely keen to experiment. She defies the imagination of traditional beer drinkers and takes risks. A good example of the joy of experimenting is the Carrot Cake Ale from 2017. What certainly caused a shocked head shake among followers of the Reinheitsgebot, turns out to be a spicy, light ale with a surprising carrot cake aroma. But chilli and strawberries have also found their way into the cauldron here. The Lehe Brewery interprets the classic beer tradition in a playful way and has taken Estonia and the international craft beer scene by storm. If you want to give the beer with a special flavor note a chance, you can dare to try the Lehe Hetk with a cherry flavor or the beer with the lyrical name Lehe RIGHT AWAY, I KNOW YOU ARE WONDERFUL . True to the motto "Everyone loves strawberries" have taken the Talis deep into the fruit box and a surprisingly classical Pils created with stunning strawberry aftertaste. A midsummer night's dream.
