In addition to fish & chips, Shakespeare and tea, we also have the Brits to thank for the wonderfully balanced pale ale . Before the beer style was invented, there were almost exclusively dark beers. This circumstance was due to the then common technique of drying over a wood fire. When dried by the smoke, the germinated malt acquired its dark color and strong flavor. Then, in the 18th century, the use of coke, a coal-like fuel, emerged and brought the beer world malts that were light and delicate. Brewers took direct advantage of this brand new raw material, brewing golden-bodied beers with a milder, smoother taste.
The Austrian brewery Bevog continues the English tradition of ales and has specialized in the production of this classic style of beer. A young and fresh take on British beer, their Pale Ale Tak is brewed with an aromatic blend of two malts and four hops.
Bevogs Pale Ale flows into the glass in warm copper gold and is crowned with a magnificent ivory foam crown. Both the olfaction and the aromas are composed of a bouquet that combines hops and malt in intimate harmony: the grain forms a soft base with a subtle taste of caramel, the hops contribute freshness, fruity notes and a mild bitterness.
