In addition to numerous sights, the two main attractions of Cologne are clearly the majestic Cologne Cathedral and the tasty Kölsch. Every year countless people make a pilgrimage to the city on the Rhine to admire the Gothic cathedral and then enjoy a cool Kölsch afterwards.
The beer of the West German city can only be called Kölsch if it was actually brewed in Cologne. Fortunately, there are no rules as to where the Kölsch can be enjoyed, which gives us the opportunity to offer you this excellent Cologne beer.
One of the most popular and well-known Kölsch breweries is the private brewery Gaffel Becker & Co., which has been brewing beer for more than a hundred years. Your Kölsch is characterized by its fresh character with delicately bitter draws and an extra helping of hops.
The Gaffel Kölsch is presented in a crystal clear gold tone in the glass and has a small crown of snow-white foam on its shiny body. A fine mixture of oven-fresh biscuits, light malt and grassy hops tempts you to take the first sip. This reveals a lean beer with lively carbon dioxide, which lets the aromas of grain, light yeast bread, tender citrus fruit, grassy hops and a hint of apple dance on the tongue. A slight bitterness elegantly rounds off the play of aromas and softens the malty sweetness.
A Kölsch, as it is in the book!
