Cellar beer is a Franconian specialty. If you are not yet familiar with the subgenus of lager beer, we strongly recommend a taste test. Thanks to its harmonious unity of soft malt and mild hops, the fine pale goes perfectly with hearty cuisine. We like it particularly well with snacks or grilled sausages with sauerkraut, mustard and sourdough bread from the stone oven with caraway seeds and a crispy crust.
A delicious example comes from the Reckendorfer Schlossbrauerei. The Franconians master the classic to perfection and brew a variant that is characterized by a small plus of hops. Your cellar beer comes with a pleasant 5.0% alcohol content and shines in a beautiful naturally cloudy amber gold in the glass. An earthy cereal scent fills the air and mixes with floral hop notes and a spicy hint of yeast to create an irresistible potpourri. The first sip reveals a medium body with an almost oily consistency and soft carbonation. Smooth cereal notes deliver a moderate sweetness that tastes of caramel, blossom honey and lightly roasted malt. The hops act as a complementing opponent, bringing not only the subtly coordinated bitterness but also grassy notes and a subtle fruitiness. The finish crowns the beer enjoyment with long-lasting notes of golden grain and spicy yeast. An unerring bitterness completes the reverberation and makes you want another bottle.
