An anniversary must be celebrated in a befitting manner. If the anniversary is that of a brewery, then of course the celebration cannot be celebrated without a beer specially developed for the occasion. Breweries make celebratory beers for all kinds of occasions, but the best ones are undoubtedly brewed to celebrate birthdays and founding years.
Of course, the Belgian brewery Rodenbach came up with a suitable beer for its 200th anniversary. The brewers celebrated this happy occasion with a specialty that married a Belgian tripel with a Flemish ale. The latter was brewed two years before the celebration and matured in oak barrels over this period. This complex, aromatic beer was then paired with a fresh Tripel to create a beer that combines maturity and character with freshness and drinkability.
The result scores with an impressive 8.2% alcohol content and is presented in a warm copper tone in the glass. A bouquet of summer wild berries rises from the ivory-colored crown of dense-pored foam and brings floral notes and a hint of sherry with it. The attack reveals a voluminous body that ensnares the palate with soft berry tones and spicy yeast. An elegant acidity skillfully balances the powerful sweetness.
