Dryness is a trait we are ambivalent about. Dry skin is uncomfortable, dry summers increase the risk of wildfires, and tobacco that is too dry tastes and burns funny. But we also appreciate the dryness of many things. On long hikes over hill and dale, it’s wonderful to have warm, dry feet, and the same goes for dry clothes. We like to drink dry white wine and are happy when the salad spinner frees rocket, iceberg and radicchio from the water so that the salad dressing doesn’t taste watery. Dry wood is great for stoking a campfire, and dried flowers are a joy in many ways. Freeze-dried fruit is a delicious snack, and when it comes to beer, dryness can be beneficial.

A prime example of the deliciousness of dry brews is Moosehead’s Premium Dry. The light lager combines a straightforward, dry character with delicate hops, soft malt and a decent 5.5% ABV.

The well-balanced beer specialty from Canada flows into the glass in clear gold and is adorned with a fleeting white foam crown. Scent and taste show a skilful balance of sun-ripened grain, grassy hops, subtle bitterness, mild sweetness and fine fruit notes. The dryness brings the components together and makes Moosehead’s Premium Dry a drinkable brew for every occasion.
