The Plankstetten monastery in Berching in Upper Palatinate is surrounded by the species-rich landscape of the Altmühltal Nature Park. In addition to dense, deep green forests, happily babbling brooks and rugged rocks, the topography of the local recreation area also includes meadow orchards. The trees, which are lavishly hung with fruit in summer, supply the region with apples, pears, cherries, plums, quince and Mirabelle plums and also offer birds, insects and other small animals a habitat and food.
The Riedenburger Brauhaus has long been taking advantage of the harvest from the fertile soil in their region. The grain used and the hops for the good beer come from regional organic farmers. Because wonderful apples also grow on the sunny hills of the Plankstetten monastery, the brewers have included a specialty in their range for which you can use a whole lot of the red-cheeked fruit: cider!
The fine orchard cider is made with apple juice pressed from crunchy Plankstetten apples. Paired with the strong brewery’s own wheat yeast and under the skilful hands of the brewers, the naturally cloudy apple juice is transformed into tasty cider. The summery soft drink comes with a decent 5.2% alcohol content and is brewed without any artificial additives.
The Riedenburg cider brings the essence of sun-kissed apples into your glass. Enjoy!
