The product itself is not necessarily a Hertlian invention, but the beer mustard from the Hertl brewery is so tasty that you could almost assume it is.

For his latest coup, master brewer David Hertl sat down with his grandmother Edeltraut and developed a fine spread that not only goes well with fresh stone-baked bread, cold cuts and cheese, but also goes wonderfully with beer. This is not only due to the Franconian origin of the mustard (and the master brewer), but above all because, in addition to the conventional ingredients, it also contains a generous portion of bock beer. This special extra ingredient gives the spicy mustard a subtle tartness and adds complexity and depth. And some alcohol.

We recommend the beer mustard from David’s grandmother’s pen as the perfect accompaniment to a hearty snack: sourdough bread with a crispy crust, Ziebeleskäs with fresh cheese, chives, butter, a fine cheese and a good dollop of beer mustard on top. Perfect. The unusual mustard is also suitable as a creamy base for a delicate salad dressing. The hearty mustard tastes particularly good with winter salads such as lamb’s lettuce. For those who don’t just want to have the mustard, but the whole snack, we recommend the snack package with mustard, meat loaf and a bottle of beer.
