As a brewer, you have a whole range of options for giving your beer special aromas. You could add them in an artificial form, but that’s frowned upon, especially in craft beer circles. Instead, breweries refine their creations by using handpicked hops or grains with special flavors, or by brewing other ingredients in addition to hops, malt, yeast and water. Fruit, spices, coffee beans, cocoa nibs, vanilla pods and citrus fruit zest are particularly popular. However, the beer can also be flavored after the brewing process: To do this, the noble drop is stored on flavoring raw materials or these are added from time to time.
For their latest collaboration with the Hamburg brewery Buddelship , Sakiškių alus opted for the latter. Their wonderful Amber Lager is brewed with a whole range of selected malts and dry-hopped with the Hallertauer Mittelfrüh hop variety. Cherry wood is responsible for that certain extra: the unconventional ingredient is toasted in a wood-fired oven and then sunk in the beer. The wood gives the brew an earthy note that goes wonderfully with the potpourri of caramel, vanilla and herbs. A hint of cherry and a pleasant, dry bitterness skilfully round off the aromas.
Sakiškių alus Cherry Wood Lager comes with a tasty 5.4% alcohol content and brings the cherry into your glass in an unusual way.

Lovely coloured beer with thick off white head. Taste is a bit strange. Some kind of herbal and earthy taste. Also tones from the cherry wood.
