The brewing art of the Trappist monks goes back several centuries. As early as the early Middle Ages, these pious men were brewing beer in their monasteries both to quench their own thirst and to meet their living expenses and raise money for charity. There are Trappist monasteries all over the world, but most of them are in Belgium and France. However, not everyone brews their own beer any longer: the list of official Trappist breweries currently includes no more than 11 breweries. Only beer from these sources may bear the official name of Trappist beer. We stock beers from the Trappist breweries Orval , Westmalle , Rochefort , Chimay and La Trappe .

The Zundert glass is the best choice for tasting these special types of beer. The bulbous vessel with a high handle and stable base was designed for enjoying full-bodied Belgian beer . The voluminous goblet allows the aroma of the beer to develop fully and the high stem ensures that the beer always stays at the right temperature. Belgian beer is usually drunk a little warmer, because the aromas come out better that way.
