Dogs in the rain are usually not a very pleasant affair: they romp uninhibitedly through every muddy puddle, they shake themselves at the worst possible moments, get everything and everyone wet and smell extremely bad. The Spanish brewery Little Rain jumps into the breach for Hund und Regen and makes some good points with their India Pale Ale Rain Dogs.
Brewed in collaboration with the brewers at Stigbergets of Sweden, the bold IPA delivers a whopping 7.2% ABV. In addition to the revolutions, there is a lot of hops in the beer, which ensures a real explosion of juicy tropical fruits on the palate. Rain Dogs proves once again that Little Rain Brewing Company is absolutely hop crazy and a master at their craft.
The wet dog presents itself in an appealing grain gold in the glass and is adorned with a crown of dense-pored, slightly tinted foam. An olfactory symphony of mango, orange, pineapple, grapefruit and papaya is combined with spicy pine and makes you thirsty at the first sip. The initial taste reveals a full-bodied body with mild carbonic acid, soft sweetness and harmonious bitterness. Big notes of tropical fruit meet light malt, citrus fruit and a hint of freshly mown grass. Pine resin adds some spiciness, while skillfully placed bitterness balances the fruit’s powerful sweetness.
