The Pils is an absolute evergreen on the German beer market and is still one of the most popular styles of beer. We are not at all surprised, because the delicately tart, slim Pils simply always tastes good and thanks to its straightforward character it goes well with a whole range of different dishes.
For a long time, the Pils was notorious among young people as a bitter, characterless uniform beer, but the craft beer movement has also brought about change here: After a long dry spell with many closings, breweries are now springing up like mushrooms and are providing creative, unusual craft beers also for a revival of the classics. The original beer styles in Germany are modernized and interpreted with a breath of fresh air and new ideas.
The castle brewery Ellingen has also dared to try the renaissance of the Pilsener and created a Franconian version of the classic. The hops for this couldn’t be more regional: The finest aromatic hops are grown directly in Ellingen and under the expert supervision of the brewer, which give the Pils its characteristic bitterness and wonderful tartness. The shiny, golden beer smells of freshly picked berries, spicy pine needles, pine resin, creamy forest honey, tender malt and sweet elderflower. The initial taste follows the olfactory first impression on the foot and inspires with noble tartness, beautiful spice, a hint of malt sweetness and the unmistakable bitterness.
