The Josefi-Bock is a very popular seasonal specialty, especially in Bavaria. The intense bock beer is brewed every year in winter so that it can be served on the feast day of St. Joseph in March. Saint Joseph is not only the foster father of Jesus but also the patron saint of brewers. He holds his guarding hand over the kettle and brew pans, ensures that the beer is a success and protects the brewer.

As a thank you, many breweries brew a very special Josefi-Bock year after year, which is tapped on March 19th. Since this feast day is in the middle of Lent, the Josefi-Bock is particularly nutritious and rich. With a strong 7.5% alcohol content and an intense malt character, the Josefi-Bock from the Ellinger Schlossbrauerei is no exception. The dark beer scores with spicy honey notes, caramel taste and an extra portion of malt.

The goat in honor of Saint Joseph flows into the glass in an opal chestnut brown and has a delicate, copper-red shimmer. The beer smells seductively of dark caramel, roasted nuts and creamy honey. The initial taste reveals a powerful body with warming alcohol notes that are well integrated into the taste. In terms of taste, the Bock delights with notes of toasted malt, freshly baked bread, dried berries, maple syrup and nuts. The hops contribute a fine tartness and a playful citrus note.

The perfect pleasure for the hardship of Lent!
