Straffe Hendrik is not a strong fellow, but a pair of twins. The dynamic duo from De Halve Maan consists of a wickedly good triple in shining gold and its counterpart, a deep black quadruple.
The golden boy and his gloomy brother were created in honor of Saint Arnold in the 80s and have been turning fans of Belgian beers since then. We are also blown away by the beers from Bruges and therefore do not want to withhold them from you. The Straffe Hendrik as a quadruple comes with a powerful 11.0% and is presented in an opaque coffee brown in the glass. A seductive scent rises from the handsome crown of slightly tinted, dense-pored foam, which beguiles you with notes of roasted malt, roasted nuts, toffee, toasted bread and dark fruits. The initial taste skilfully continues the beer enjoyment and flatters your palate with a velvety taste. Like a Greek drama, the aroma slowly builds up in several acts and flows into a brilliant finale with strong roasted aromas, melancholy sweetness and delicate hop bitterness.
Straffe Hendrik tastes like dark malt, raisins in rum, ripe pears, melting chocolate, freshly brewed coffee, fine marzipan, roasted nuts and bitter hops. Perfect for all fans of multi-layered, complex beers!
