In order to expand their range of the finest craft beers with a few sophisticated examples, the brewers have come up with a new series: Vinum Maximus is a series of strong barley wines that are refined with a long storage period in oak barrels. Aging in the cask requires a lot of patience and dedication, the brewer must never lose sight of his work, but the effort is best rewarded with a complex, tasty and well-rounded masterpiece.
Volume 1 of the Vinum Maximus range is a full-bodied beer that has matured for a whopping 12 months in casks that previously housed Wild Turkey Bourbon. The creation comes with an impressive 11.5% alcohol content and combines the dense, full-bodied character of a good Barley Wine with the wonderful aroma of the oak barrel.
The finished beer flows into the glass in an opaque shade of brown and shimmers ruby red when exposed to light. A touch of creamy beige foam forms and exudes a sensual scent of fine chocolate, candied red fruits, caramel and bourbon. The attack reveals a powerful stature with a silky smooth mouthfeel and a symphony of dark flavors: melt-in-the-mouth chocolate spreads on the tongue before toffee, prunes, rum raisins, and brown sugar join. A touch of cinnamon and vanilla complete the pleasure experience.
