Bacchus was the first line of specialty beers at Van Honsebrouk. Today, the Belgian brewery combines several series under one roof and Bacchus laid the foundation for this.

The basic recipe for all three beers named Bacchus is a Flemish brown beer. The so-called Vlaams Oud Bruin is a red-brown style of beer whose character can almost be compared to wine. This is due to the pronounced acidity that is typical of this type of beer. Many representatives of the variety are too acidic for the untrained palate, but the Van Honsebrouk brewery has refined the recipe and rounded off the pointed acidity of the brew. Now it brings a harmonious symbiosis of acidity, fruitiness, sweetness and tartness into the glass.

For their Bacchus Kriek, the brewers have added cherries to this taste profile. The deep red summer fruit goes wonderfully with the aroma of the Oud Bruin and combines creamy caramel, gently roasted malt and crisp acidity with the juicy sweetness of freshly harvested cherries. In addition to the unmistakable aroma, the fruits also contribute a wonderful color: Bacchus Kriek flows into the glass in a bright shade of red and is adorned with a mixed-pore foam crown in soft pink.
